Twitter is definitely more than social networking, otherwise it would have been out of the competition from the beginning itself considering the fact that there aren't much features there to make users busy. Most probably, Twitter is still popular due to the following reasons.
- There are lots of REAL celebrities and other famous people tweeting out there and we can know what they’re doing right now.
- Easy way to connect with the customers for a business firm and keep them posted.
